Creative Arts Therapy
Art Therapy invites us to connect with ourselves through the process of creativity. It can gift us with the opportunity to explore lesser know inner landscapes.
For over 45,000 years humans have embraced art. We have shared our ideas and stories in the pursuit of knowledge, understanding and harmony.
What is Art Therapy?
We are often drawn to creativity when the intensity of our emotions cannot be wrestled into submission by our mind. We dance, we draw or doodle, we seek out particular songs, artists or movies. Instinctually we recognise that art, in all its forms, can serve as solace, release or an avenue through which to express our feelings.
Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, movement, sculpting and music.
People will often describe a sense of timelessness when creating, a stillness of mind. It is in this stillness that the search for solutions, or casting judgment, is suspended. In this quiet space whisperings of a new story can emerge.

About ME
Deborah Rohde, MA (Miecat)
As a filmmaker and community artist I have had the honour of exploring and sharing many stories in both intimate and community settings. I am endlessly amazed and surprised at the incredible power of art. It unfailingly opens up new spaces for me to pause and listen, to learn a little bit more about who I am, and who I might become.
Having worked with groups and individuals in regional and remote settings, along with having lived experience, I am aware that mental health support services are sparse at best, if not absent all together. This has motivated me to create an online service in my field of practice.
Not sure how it will translate but worth a try :)
